A PROFILE
CONTAINER FREIGHT STATION
We have commissioned operations of the CFS in
the month of April, 2000 and running it successfully with growth in volume,
both in terms of Import and Export containers. The facility is supported
by leading CHAs. and almost all Shipping Lines are moving their Import
containers to our CFS.

Ours is one of the few CFSs. in Chennai having ?Public
Bonded Warehouse? within the premises which facilitates better logistics
and avoids additional transport as well as additional handling charges and
the risk of pilferage during transit is totally eliminated.
We have also obtained Customs approval for the
additional area of 8.82 acres of land adjacent to the existing land for
handling and storage of containers, in addition to the existing 9.25 acres
of land.
We are handling both Import and Export cargo along
with Bonded Warehousing facility - both open and covered.
We have also obtained
Import LCL handling permission from Chennai Customs to operate all types of
import boxes at our CFS.
We have Bar Coding facility for Export
containers.

We are handling all types of
cargo, from sophisticated items like Picture tubes, Electronic goods and
agri-products and machinery and scrap and many reputed customers like,
Carborandum Universal, ETA, Wipro, HCL, IBM, Acer, APC, LG Electronics,
BPL, etc. are already operating in our CFS/ICD utilising our total logistic
services.
PUBLIC BONDED
WAREHOUSE
We operate Public Bonded Warehouse, both covered
and open, inside our Container Freight Station - UNIT - I at Manali and
also at UNIT - II near Basin Bridge. And UNIT - III at Vichoor Village,
Manali Town.
UNIT - I Public Bonded Warehouse is situated inside
the CFS for Bonded cargo generated out of our own CFS which facilitates
better logistics and avoids additional transport as well as additional
handling charges and the risk of pilferage during transit is totally
eliminated.
We have 27,000 sq.ft. of covered area and 35,000
sq.ft. of open Bonded area with handling equipments:

UNIT - II
We have covered Public Bonded Warehouse of 41,800 sq.
ft. near Basin Bridge along with General warehouse of 13,200 sq.ft. which
is located nearer to Chennai Custom House with a distance of only 3 Kms.
and also near the Chennai Port ?O? gate. Thus the containers cleared from
the Port will have the advantage of reduced travel time and cost because
of the proximity.
UNIT - III
Customs approved Public Bonded Warehouse of 14,000
sq.ft. has been developed at Vichoor Village, Manali New Town to cope with
increased demand from Customers for additional storage space. The
Warehouse is situated 17 Kms. from Chennai Port.
It is also advantageous to the users and CHAs since
the Godown is in the heart of the City with broad motorable roads
connecting Highways.
Most of the empty container plots are located near our
Public Bonded Warehouse which will facilitate reduction in the cost of
empty repositioning charges.
Godown Facilities
Godowns are provided with ramp which will facilitate
unloading of cargo directly from on-wheel containers and also loading of
cargo directly to the trucks. The cargo is neatly stacked as per
international standards.
Godowns are provided with number of door points with
rolling shutters which will enable quick, fast and simultaneous operation
for loading and unloading.
The godowns are well-lit and cross-ventilated and RCC
floored, to store all types of cargo like Electronic goods, machinery,
Picture tube, Computers, Air-conditioners, etc., Pallatiesed items,
cartons, coils, heavy metals, plates, sheets, jumbo bags, and many break
bulk items.
Number of Fire Extinguishers have been installed in
the Godowns at both the Units.
Equipments
We are having Forklifts to handle palletised cargo
upto 3 tons directly from the container and we are also having crane
facility to handle heavy weight cargo like jumbo bags, etc.
Trained Labour
More than 45 labourers are available in the godown who
are well behaved and well trained in handling cargo ranging from
sophisticated to International cargo.
Qualified and well trained Supervisors
The Supervisors are well trained, courteous and
friendly and they would organise work methodically, ensuring speed and
efficiency in the bonding and de-bonding operations and accuracy in the
connected documentation works.
Insurance Coverage
All the godowns under Unit I, Unit II and Unit III are
adequately covered by Insurance against all risks of fire, flood, theft,
burglary, sabotage, etc.
Security
All the godowns are covered by 24 hours security and
are fully surrounded by 15? high compound wall with barbed wire fencing
alround to ensure safety and security of the high-value cargo stored like
electronic items, Picture Tubes, Computers, etc. We have installed 22 Nos.
Flood Lights of 500 wattvs for full lighting facility during
night.
We have also installed 80 ft. High mast Flood Light
for ease of handling of cargo and security purpose.
We have also installed Close Circuit TV and
Surveillance System covering all the gates to monitor/control IN / OUT
movements of Trailers / Cargo / Persons.
Vehicle Parking Facility
We have large open space in both the Units for parking
of load containers as well as trucks and trailers.
Facilities for the staff of CHAs
We have spacious office facility for the use of CHAs.
to enable them to do their documentation work. They also have access to
telephone, fax and E.mail facilities.
24 Hours Service - 365 days
Service is provided all the 24 hours including late
hours. Service is also provided even on holidays if and when
required.
Weigh-bridge
40 MT. Capacity Weigh-bridge is
functioning with the Warehouse at UNIT II.
